Tuesday Market
We heard about the Tuesday Market. From everyone. Because everyone told us, "You must go to the Tuesday Market." I don't know what I was expecting, but it certainly was not what greeted us upon arrival. We took a taxi to the edge of town and were dropped off into madness. Some man on a loudspeaker yammering on about something in espanol. The content of which was lost on me. There were people everywhere, dust everywhere, people selling their goods and wares. Everywhere. Rows and rows of tarp covered huts of... stuff. Literally everything from gummy bears to garbanzo beans. Electric tape to empanadas. It was pretty much amazing. Literally, whole piles of second-hand sweaters for $2. Stacks of bootlegged DVDs for $5. Heaps of yummy candy for 50 cents. I literally couldn't find a single thing that I actually needed, but wow, it was great. In the end I had some tacos and bought some gummy bears, and a cute sweater-dress (new), after nearly 4 hours of browsing. Oh wait, I forgot about the jugo. Fresh pineapple juice, fresh amazing wonderfully tasty pineapple juice. It was so wonderful I could have drank a whole gallon. But I restrained myself. In any event, it was a sweet experience, one that no pictures can quite capture, but here are a few to give some highlights.
